I actually made that exact switch last year when I was rebuilding my studio. I used to have a manual hydraulic setup, but it was a nightmare with the occasional oil leak and the uneven lifting. I ended up getting a multi-leg electric lifting column https://www.progressiveautomations.com/collections/lifting-column-sets set, and the difference is night and day. The synchronization is what really sold it for me—all the legs move perfectly together so my gear doesn't slide off. Even with a couple of hundred pounds on there, the motor doesn't even sound like it's straining. Plus, you can program specific heights, which is way more convenient than pumping a lever every time you want to switch from sitting to standing. If you're worried about capacity, just check the force ratings; some of these industrial-grade columns are absolute beasts and can handle way more than people think without the mess of fluid.

Speaking of garage upgrades, I finally got around to organizing my tool wall last weekend. I spent hours mounting those magnetic strips and sorting through old bins of rusted bolts I’ll probably never use. It's funny how you can live with a disorganized mess for five years and then suddenly decide it has to be fixed in a single afternoon. Now that I can actually see the floor, I’m realized I probably should have painted the concrete before putting all the heavy cabinets back against the wall.
